It’s that time of year again, come and celebrate the 6th annual Summer Sizzle FNO with the Pilot Club and the ZFW ARTCC as we fly into Dallas for some Texan BBQ, yee haw!
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (KDFW) is the primary international airport serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and the North Texas region. Its official opening took place in April 1953 after two unsuccessful attempts in the 1950s to convert Carter Field into a joint regional airport. The Dallas Fort Worth Regional (later International) Airport was dedicated in September 1973 and became operational for the first time on January 13, 1974, at a cost of $700 million.
This airport has since become one of the largest and busiest airports in the United States, serving millions of passengers each year.
Dallas Love Field Airport (KDAL), on the other hand, has a rich history dating back to October 19, 1917, when it was commissioned as a training base for the U.S. Army Air Service during World War I. Initially serving as Dallas' main airport, it continued to operate as such until the opening of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in 1974. Located 6 miles northwest of downtown Dallas, Texas, Dallas Love Field remains a city-owned public airport. Its long-standing history and strategic location have contributed to its significance in the aviation landscape of the region.
See you in the virtual skies!
